Who We Are
DIST TRKR is a mobile and web application for measuring GPS point-to-point distances. This Privacy Policy describes how the app handles information when you use it on iOS, Android, or via the web.

Location Data
DIST TRKR requests access to your device's GPS in order to function. Here is exactly how that data is used:
- Your GPS coordinates are read from your device to calculate the distance between Point A and Point B.
- Coordinates are stored locally on your device only — in your browser's local storage (web) or AsyncStorage (iOS/Android).
- Location data is never transmitted to any server, cloud service, or third party by DIST TRKR.
- Location data is never used for advertising targeting, profiling, or any purpose other than displaying distances to you.
Bottom line: Your GPS data never leaves your device. When you delete the app or clear app data, all stored measurements are permanently deleted.
Stored Measurements
Measurements you take are saved locally on your device so they persist between sessions. Each saved measurement may include:
- GPS coordinates of Point A and Point B
- Altitude (elevation) at each point, if available
- Calculated distance
- Date and time of the measurement
- A name you assign (e.g. "Back fence line")
This data exists only on your device. You can export it as a JSON file at any time using the Export function, and you can delete individual measurements or reset all data within the app.
Advertising
DIST TRKR displays banner advertisements to support continued development. Ads are served by Google AdMob.
AdMob may collect limited device information such as your device's advertising ID, IP address, and general location in order to serve relevant ads. This is governed by Google's Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/privacy, not by this policy.
We configure ads to be non-personalized where possible and never display ads during active GPS measurement operations. You will not see interstitial, video, or full-screen ads — only a small, unobtrusive banner.
You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time through your device settings:
- iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising → turn off Personalized Ads
- Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Delete advertising ID
App Permissions
DIST TRKR requests only the permissions it needs:
- Location (While Using App): Required to read GPS coordinates. The app does not request background location access.
No other permissions — camera, contacts, microphone, notifications, or storage — are requested or used.
Children's Privacy
DIST TRKR does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13. The app does not require account creation and does not transmit any user data. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has used this app, please note that no data has been collected or transmitted.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes materially — for example, if we ever add cloud sync or user accounts — we will update this page and revise the "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
We do not anticipate significant changes to this policy as the app is designed to be data-minimal by principle.
